On Wednesday 26th September the Vets took to the course for their rescheduled May Medal and racing to a two shot victory was Peter Holt.
Peter’s fine nett 68 included two birdies, one on the front nine, coming at the 8th and the other on the back nine, coming at the 13th. Andy Morphew came in as runner up after his exciting nett 70 as Andy not only included two birdies, but he also enjoyed an eagle 3 on the Par 5 14th.

Frank Barber Bowl - Monday 17th September
Our week of results, as so often, starts on Monday with the Vets section, which on Monday 17th September hosted the second and concluding round of the 36 hole, Frank Barber Bowl, medal format competition. Winning overall and hanging on to his first round lead was Mike Winder. Whether Mike knew that he was in a winning position or not, playing the last few holes and therefore putting himself under a little bit of pressure, I do not know, but observing Mikes scorecard it was certainly an entertaining finish with a Birdie a Quadruple Bogey, 2 bogies and a Par, all in the last 5 holes. Mike went on to score a nett 75 and along with his 1st round score of 71 = 146, finished a comfortable 5 shots clear of runner up, Peter Young after his rounds of 77, 74 = 151. This was the second time that Mike has won this trophy Quiz Night

Colin Hatcher Event Organiser 21 Members of the Veterans Section travelled to the Dorset Golf and Country Club for their annual get together.
Competing for a Shield with 4 Rounds of Golf over four days, the Shield going to the individual with the most Stableford points. Further prizes were played for, which included Best two scores from the four team players on each hole on the Four individual days. There were also prizes for twos and there were also a prize for those who did not score very well. Receiving the main prize was Rod Jones and Micky Hawkes took Second Place. Accommodation, Clubhouse facilities and the Catering was of a very high standard. The course though, proved to be very demanding, with an extraordinary amount of bunkers as well as lakes, ditches and difficult to read greens. Hence scoring was rather low. Thanks go to all those individuals who were involved in the organising of this special trip. This is a NEW Team Competition started this year and organised by the Kent Super Seniors League. In the first round Sene Valley were drawn against West Malling G.C. at Home. Sene Valley were the Victors by 2-1 and will now move on to the second round, yet to be Drawn. The Team Pairs representing our Veterans Section were Bob Musson/Mike Dundon, Colin Hatcher/Chris Wells and Mick Hawkes/Mike Redmond
The Sene Valley Team got of to a fine start in winning their first match of the season away to the Tenterden (previously Cranbrook) Team 31/2-11/2
