Gentlemen,
This year on my Captain's Day I am collecting in aid of Cancer Research and as well as having, hopefully, a fun day on the course with prizes on several holes, I intend to have a raffle. if you would like to make a donation of a raffle prize it will be gratefully received on the day when you book in, in the Clubhouse. Kindest Regards Bob Musson Six pairs from each club competed with each other in this match played at Broome Park on Thursday 5th April 2019. Captain Bob Musson congratulated Broome Park on their organising of the day. the condition of the course with excellent fairways and Greens and an enjoyable meal.
The result of the match was 31/2 - 21/2 to the Home Club with all the games being very close. Sene valley will no doubt seek revenge in the Home match scheduled for Friday 19th July. Unfortunately in this match Sene Valley arrived with three players short caused by confusion with the dates.
In the first of the Veterans Friendly matches 2019. Sene Valley lost 5-1 to Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club Away on Monday 4th March. The only winning pair were Paul Cresswell and Bob Smail.
Photos are published on this site showing trophy winners receiving the respective trophy from incoming Captain Robert Musson,
The Veterans Cup for 2019 was won by Mike Simmons with 37pts. The new committee was elected and are shown on the 'Home' page. I have been organising the Veterans Captains Ladies Night for the last 7 years now and this will be the last one. I have enjoyed doing it but found it very much 'hard work' and its now time to hand over to someone else. Generally speaking most of the Captains have appreciated the work that i have done and its nice that they have mentioned me in their speeches.
Helping to deal with the arrangements over that period are Winston and Annie, Chris Wells, Bob Musson and Martin Davidson. See SLIDE SHOW 2018 I would like to take this time to congratulate our Veterans 'Hong Kong Cup' Finalist Vince Appleby and Frank Hover for a well contested final, which was eventually won by Vince on the 19th Hole.
Vince will go forward and represent SVGC Veterans to play in the 'Kent Golf Veterans Singles Event' in 2019, and also have his name on the Hong Kong Cup winners board in the club house. Well done Vince and to all of the Vets that entered the competiton. Regards, Mike Redmond SVGC Veterans Captain The John Lawton Trophy 2018. Winning with a decent score of 39 points was Micky Hawkes. After a dodgy first 3 holes, a birdie at the 4th settled things down and set Mick on his way to victory. It’s great to see Micky back to good health and back to his old winning ways. Coming in as runner up on 38 points was Gordon Robinson, but only after a count back decision ahead of David Darlow. In the absence of the Veterans Captain, John Lawton was available to present his fathers Trophy to the Winner. |
