Knockout Competitions - Arrangement of ties. 

  • As soon as the draw is made in these competitions and thereafter, it is the  responsibility of the first named player(s) to contact the other and offer three dates within the time  allowed, and between Monday and Friday inclusive.  
  • If  the first named player(s) fail to do this, then they shall be disqualified.
  • If the second named player(s) can not agree the dates offered, then it is his/their responsibility to arrange a suitable date, which must be before, or no later than, the playby date. 
  •  Should the second named player(s) fail to do this, then he/they shall be disqualified.

Information

Procedure for Veterans Competitions 

  1. Enter on ClubV1 hub
  2. On day of the event report to the professional to collect your card and pay your £2 entry fee, there will also be a 2s sweep which is optional.
  3. On completion of your round enter your results on the club's computer.
  4. Place your completed and signed scorecard in the box beside the computer.
  5. Cards will be checked and results displayed on the Veterans Notice Board and through the link on this page.

Competition Prizemoney

Prize monies for all Veterans Competitions will be added to the individuals account in professionals shop.

On 29th January 2013 a meeting was held at Faversham G.C. when a Group D was set up to take part in K.G.V.L. Super Seniors (Over 70s) League, details and Fixtures will be displayed on the Notice Board and through this link

Veterans Hon.Summary of Competition Rules
Frank Barber Bowl - A 36 hole medal competition played over two days off  white tees. (both Colin Hatcher and E. Glyn Thomas have won this competition on three occasions) 
Hong Kong Cup - A Veterans Singles Knock-out Competition after draw for preliminary and subsequent first round 9/10 difference Handicap allowance off White
Tees. the winner goes on to represent Sene Valley Veterans in the KGVL singles event the following year and his fees are paid for by the Veterans Section. 
Bernie Keen Trophy - Fourball Better Ball Matchplay competition after draw for preliminary and subsequent first round 9/10 Handicap allowance off White Tees taken from lowest handicap in the group The winning pair go on to represent Sene Valley Veterans in the KGVL pairs event the following year and their fees are paid by the Veterans Section. 
Les Fisher Eclectic - Run in conjunction with six selected competitions throughout the year.
Greenkeeper Competition
 - Run in conjunction with May Stableford off Yellow Tees. 
John Lawton Trophy -  A competition run in conjunction with the June monthly Stableford. 
Veterans Stablefords - Are played off the White Tees during Summer Months and Yellow Tees at other times  Full Handicap allowance. 
Frank Barber Shield - Super Veterans Stableford competition over 12 holes yearly. Restricted to members aged 75 and over.  
David Sells Shield - Fourball Better Ball Stableford - 9/10 Handicap yellow Tees - Draw for partners (High Low Combinations). 
Ernie Stagg Shield - Greensomes Stableford draw for Partners (High Low Combinations). 
Richmond Divots Golf Society Shield - A three club competition Stableford off full handicap (must include a putter). Trophy donated by the Richmond Divots Golf Society to the Veterans Section in 1987 
Ray Stokes Shield - A competition run in conjunction with the November monthly Stableford. 
Jack Bond Shield - A foursome competition draw for partners (High Low Combinations). Handicap Allowance 1/2 of combined.
Ray Sidders Trophy - Points awarded for the top 6 scores in the Monthly Competitions.
 

Hong Kong Cup - The story is that  it was brought to the Folkestone Club from Hong Kong in the early 1920's and had been a Polo Cup in Hong Kong. This would affirm the Hong Kong connection.

There is also of course the anecdote that Ray Sidders used to relate. Apparently in the past those that won the cup did not live to compete for the title a year later!! It was therefore discontinued for a little while until a vicar (a member of the club) agreed to exorcise the cup which hopefully has removed the curse! Since then it has been played for regularly. This trophy goes back possibly ninety to one hundred years, but our records start 1982. See Honours Boards 
E. Glyn-Thomas won this trophy on three occasions.
